Friday Favorites:

Killer Skulls:

Why do skulls have to be morbid? Skulls can be so beautiful when done the right way. I have a cow skull that I painted bright teal that I'll be using for a styled shoot this spring (Hey Kristen Pierson!). Make a skull beautiful by adorning it with flowers and greenery and place them around your ceremony or reception.

The Essential Honeymoon Bag:

I know at the end of the night you'll be so excited to ride off into the sunset with your new hubby but don't forget your honeymoon weekender bag. Show off your new monogram with your brand new last name embroidered on your bag. Drop a hint to your bridesmaids...this would make a perfect bridal shower gift.

Daring Nails:

Don't get me wrong I love a classic french manicure. But if you want to do something more fun, try out some nail art. These examples have a white or pink base that won't take away from your dress, but go as crazy as you want! How cute is this little pineapple set on my friend and NYC fashion blogger Renee Goodman? So random, yet so great! Check out her blog at The Rene(e)gade

Dancing Shoes:

Heels are not a requirement for a wedding day in my book! Save yourself the sore feet and slip on some flats for the big day.  There are so many beautiful options and bridal flat collections to choose from. Some of my favorite flats are Tieks. They are so comfortable, come in about a million colors, and fold in half to fit into your purse. They are perfect for your wedding day because their blue bottoms can be your something blue. Check out their wedding line here: Something Tiek Blue

Getting Tropical:

One of my favorite new wedding themes is the tropical or Hawaiian theme. Bright flowers and island vibes can help you draw inspiration for your wedding color palette. Incorporating palm leaves and fruit into your bouquets, tablescapes, and center pieces creates a natural and organic feel. Change it up with a non traditional theme and go tropical this wedding season.

Our Favorite Cakes

Our Favorite Cakes

But Will There Be Cake?

Here at Promise Event Planners we have quite the sweet tooth. This weeks spotlight belongs to my favorite part of any wedding...the cake. Check out some of our favorites.

Cursive:

Calligraphy and hand lettering are now a wedding must have. They have edible paint to make your cake say whatever fits your style. Why not let your cake speak for itself?

Square:

These yummy boxes give the classic cake a modern twist. Add some succulents or flowers to the corners or have your special date printed in icing. When it comes to cake, its hip to be square.

Naked:

This minimalist look is for couples who love the cake, but not the frosting (frosting is the best part, but I'm not here to judge).  Naked cakes don't leave much to the imagination and show of the cakes flavor. Light frosting is also an option if you don't feel comfortable going completely nude.

Watercolor:

Need I say more? Watercolor is trending right now and your cake shouldn't miss out. My favorite thing about watercolor is that it is never the same design twice. Be one of a kind and try this trend.

3D:

Some pretty amazing things can be done with a little sugar & fondant. Sugar flowers are a gorgeous addition to a traditional wedding cake. These 3D designs are so real you can taste them. But actually.

Tree:

For all my rustic brides and nature lovers, this is for you. These cakes have been everything in Colorado the past few wedding seasons and I'm sure this season will be no different. Make this cake your own with your initials "carved" into the cake.

Unconventional:

If you don't love traditional wedding cake, there are so many options for wedding desserts. I have seen everything from cake pops to apple pies. This tiered bundt cake and macaroon display can take the place of a cake.  Go big and do a dessert bar to give your guests options.

Black:

Anyone that knows me knows I love black. It's timeless and can be done so many ways. This chalkboard cake is a great way to incorporate three trends in one. You can also show contrast by having a black cake with all white flowers. Obsessed.  I will definitely have a black cake at my wedding.

Can You Believe it's March....

Can You Believe it's March....

Can You Believe it's March....

It feels like this year is just flying by! Here at Promise we love spring. It means spring cleaning, nice weather, and spring fashion. This also means spring has sprung and wedding season is almost here. We are getting geared up for wedding season with three new clients on the books for this year! Yay!  Here are this weeks Friday Favorites:

Textured Heels:

Aren't these amazing? These textured heels are popping up everywhere and definitely selling out. There is no rule that says you have to wear white shoes on your wedding day. Red tassels, baby pink feathers, and even these teal pom poms will totally step up your bridal style. These are a sassy and fun way to dress up any outfit including your wedding dress. Let your wild side show with a little bit of feather peeping out from under your gown.

Crystal Cakes:

Doesn't this look like something out of a science museum? This amazing effect is made with just sugar! Gemstone cakes are perfect for a bohemian bride or someone that has a small obsession with crystals. The first cake was created by design genius Rachael Teufel of Intricate Icings here in Colorado. Traditional wedding cakes are no longer the norm. Desert bars, candy bars, milk and cookie bar, the list goes on and on. People are breaking tradition with their wedding cakes and desserts and this does just that.

Balloons Aren't Just For Birthday Parties:

No it's not your cousins thirteenth birthday party, it's a wedding.  Balloons will make your wedding feel like the celebration it truly is. Balloons can be used in so many ways and don't have to be the latex balloons you are used to seeing. They now come in any color and texture your little heart desires, including gold or silver. Balloons can be a great way to showcase your table numbers, Decorating the ceremony space, or they can be used in your photos. No matter how you do it, they are completely festive and completely adorable.

Throwing Rice?

Throwing rice is no longer kosher due to the whole it killing the birds thing. So let's throw something a little less harmful during your grande exit! Throwing things like colorful confetti or sprinkles looks really amazing in your photos (make sure your photog uses a flash). Throwing something like lavender or flower petals can give your grande exit a more earthy vibe and will fade into the outdoor environment quite nicely. You'll think of your big day every time you smell roses or lavender.

For All My Rustic Brides

For All My Rustic Brides

This is for All My Rustic Brides:

As a Colorado wedding planner I see the rustic theme all the time. When I ask my brides about the theme of their wedding, rustic and "authentically Colorado" often go hand in hand. Stay away from the cookie cutter ideas and take your wedding to the next level with a few of these special additions.

Get Festive with Garland:

Garland is an awesome way to fill a blank space (insert Taylor Swift reference here). I love garland because it can completely change the vibe of a wedding based on the type you use. Keep it romantic with lace and hearts, channel your inner Kate Spade with Gold tassels, or add a modern touch with geometric triangles.

Cue the Mood Lighting:

Lighting can completely change the feeling in a room. Adding chandeliers or lots of candles can make your wedding or event feel warm and romantic. This gem adorned chandelier will totally glam up your rustic affair. This other chandelier features mason jars, which is a staple at any rustic event. If hanging lighting isn't your thing, use candles to light the room. This wooden tea light holder will really capture your guests attention.

Spruce Up Your Farm Table:

Dress your table with more than just knives and forks. Adding a charger or place mat is a great way to add some rustic flair. These wooden place mats are perfect for your sweetheart table. The wooden blocks can help your guests find their way to their table and will look so adorable at their seat. Find these Mr. and Mrs. settings at the steponitart shop on Etsy.

Sashes & Belts:

Why not spice up your lace gown with a sash or belt. Belts can completely transform a dress and these ones will  definitely make you stand out. Honestly, when will you ever be able to wear a completely bedazzled belt again? Go for it bride!

Favors Your Guests Will Actually Use:

Favors for a guest isn't always necessary, but it is a nice touch. I cannot tell you how many times I've packed up wedding favors after guests have not taken them home with them. Give your guests something they won't want to leave behind. These hand painted coasters and personalized wooden bottle stoppers are an awesome way to tie in the wood theme in a useful way. I love these tiny magnetic turquoise hearts. Your guests can use them to hang your future Christmas card on their fridge! AW! You can also give your guests something to keep the memory of your day alive, like a small succulent. Although they will have to keep this thing alive, succulents don't take much work.

Better Than A Guest Book:

A binded guest book will just sit on your coffee table or on a shelf for the rest of your life. Have the memory of your guests and your wedding displayed somewhere in your home where you can remember your special day for years to come. Things like this globe and hanging frame can be signed in different colored markers to match your wedding colors and your home decor. These items will be a conversation piece for anyone that enters your home.

Not Your Daddy's Silk Tie:

Who said the ladies should have all the fun when it comes to wedding fashion? Dress your groom in something he can show off too. These ties stay away from the normal colored silk tie and TIE in the rustic theme of your wedding. (see what I did there?) Burlap, leather, and floral ties will go perfectly with your theme. Your groom doesn't have to wear a bow tie I just have a soft spot for them. Don't forget suspenders too!

National Drink Wine Day

TODAY IS NATIONAL WINE DAY!

And I know I will be celebrating with a few glasses of vino. In honor of this amazing holiday here are a few ways your wine bottles can be re-purposed and used at your wedding.
